how to copy FileViewer from 1.43 to 1.47 ROM

As some of you know, FV is not included in 1.47 release (DUMB). And I prefer it to ClearVue (which I also have). When I tried to copy the .exe file (called something like fpicserv.exe, writing from memory so dont quote me), it gives me access denied error, which is funny, because I can copy most other executables from \windows folder. It's like as if it's already running in memory (it didn't, i check the running processes).

Is there some trick with RapiConfig i can do or something? I really want that viewer.

I don't think you'll be able to get it, as it's part of the ROM and they've made it so that it cannot be copied or moved or edited etc in any way (hence READ ONLY MEMORY). Might be possible to extract it from the ROM image if you had tools like those for the typhoon. But as far as I know there is none for the mpx220 and I'm sure doing so would be illegal anyway.

So short answer is no, sorry :|

You are right in a way. But I should be able to read any file from ROM. Therefore copy it somewhere. THat's why it's called READ ONLY MEM. I can copy other EXE's from that folder, so it's really strange it's not letting me copy this one.

Any other ideas?

Yes but lots of the files in the ROM are protected as they don't want you to be able to take bits out of some ROMs (like WMP10, which is why everyone wanted an update).

They do it because they want you to buy new phones with the new features, so they get more money. Have you tried Repligo?? You have to convert the documents, but it can convert anything that can be sent to a normal printer eg. html, pdf, doc etc.

I use it and find it very good for reading ebooks etc...
