C500 Speakers and stuff

This is frustrating!

Just in the past couple of days, my C500 has stopped playing sounds out of the speaker. I also can't hear anyone during a call and they can't hear me.

This is the wierd bit: The handsfree kit still works fine. I can talk and be heard normally.

I can also (MOST BIZZARE OF ALL) hear the ringtone without the handsfree kit. It's the only noise the phone makes.

I have done several hard-resets. I have tried to downgrade from the (official) 4.2.1.1 ROM to the 4.1.1.1 ROM. This seemed to let me do it, but came up with a message saying the nvf file (or something similar) was out of date and it gave up, leaving the phone with 3 bands of colour on the screen and a lot of what looked like Typhoon device information.

I pulled the battery out and replaced it and it booted up normally into the 4.2.1.1 ROM.

Is this fixable, or will I have to take it into an Orange shop? (can I do that? I bought it direct from Orange.co.uk)

Ok, just discovered.

It's locked onto Headset profile.

How do I change to a different profile? (tapping the power button and scrolling down to "normal" does not work. Nor does going through the Start Menu)

A quick Google for "C500" and "locked on headset" gives a few MoDaCo sites which link to http://www.coolsmartphone.com/index.php?op...tid=58&Itemid=3

Eventually (after much poking) I was able to get normal operations back.
