Guest simon211175 Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 I know this has been mentioned before with the Orange Rom upgrade on C500s but I cannot find it - so I apologise for reposting. Since upgrading my C500 to the latest ROM, music downloaded from wanadoo or itunes etc is not playable in WMP10. Instead it tells me the licence is invalid or corrupt. I've synched the music from WMP10 on my PC to the storage card of my phone and it looks okay until I try to play it. Has anyone found a solution to this please?
Guest zzp9cj Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 Have you found an answer yet ?? I have the same issue. If I sync to Phone and not the Storage Card the files work. But I have tried everything and can not sync them correctly to the storage card  Can anyone help ??? Guest inlinesk8a Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 hey my friend had the same prob you know on your I-Tunes there should be a thing somewere in which you cna change the songs to mp3 files, then try them on your phone :-)
Guest simon211175 Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 that's no good for me. I used I-Tunes as an example of what I menat, but I get my tracks from wanadoo (as it's the only site my work server hasn't blocked :))
Guest inlinesk8a Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 lol it could be the same try right click>props> (look at file type) if its not a mp3 or wma file you might have to chnage it
Guest simon211175 Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 they are all WMA files, and used to play fine on the old ROM. I tried putting them on the phone storage and as per zzp9cj's comment above they then play okay in WMP10 - but it won't play them from the storage card.

Surel the whole point of a music enable device is its ability to play music that you buy, stored on the storage card ! Someone help !!!!! please :)
Guest simon211175 Posted August 15, 2005 Report Posted August 15, 2005 OK, here's a little test I just did - I took out my Apacer 256Mb storage card and put my original "as supplied by Orange" SanDisk 16Mb card. Synched a content protected file to it and opened up WMP10. the file played no problem. Why Why Why???? I don't want to be restricted to a 16 Mb card, I have far too much to store. What is the difference in the two cards (apart from make and size)????
Guest zzp9cj Posted August 19, 2005 Report Posted August 19, 2005 Can't anyone help? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It would appear not  Someone must have some ideas .. please
Guest simon211175 Posted August 21, 2005 Report Posted August 21, 2005 I emailed Orange on the off-chance they would be helpful. This is their initial reply: This change is in place in lieu of Digital Rights Management laws in place. Microsoft are obliged as a provider of media player software to insure compliance with Digital Rights and copyright law. For any further questions I would advise contacting Microsoft on 08706010100. Needless to say I've asked them to try again.
Guest simon211175 Posted August 24, 2005 Report Posted August 24, 2005 got a new reply back from Orange: Orange only support the supplied SD card, if problems are experienced with a 3rd party SD card, I would advise that this may not be 100 percent compatible with the handset. Have you tried another SD card to see if you can replecate the error? I'm currently using a 256Mb Apacer Mini-SD card, which isn't working. Anyone else experiencing this problem using different cards?
Guest simon211175 Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 Considering the above, I'd be really grateful if people could post their SD card types and if they get this problem or not please?

All music bought on on-line music stores (WMA) i sync with MS Medieplayer 10. I have a 512 mini SD Card. I do not use iTunes if it is WMA files that is licenseprotected. I only use iTunes for MP3.

Guest simon211175 Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 received a 512mb SanDisk card in the post today, tried and tested....all seems to be working okay.
Guest poulidis Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 Since the files play when on the phone and not the card, then try looking for a folder on the phone directory containing the licenses, then if you find one, copy it to the card. If that doesn't work, try googling for unfuck.exe . This is program which removes the license from the files, AS LONG AS YOU ALREADY OWN A LEGIT LICENSE. Tell me how that goes.
Guest lesbessant Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 No problem - 512MB card, works with protected files from Napster to Go. Not that I actually wanted it to, but Napster detected the C500, and I gave it a try...
