C550 does it do...

Hi here the C550 is out and was wondering what things have been added that alot of ppl have talked about since the inception of smartphone, so can anyone tell me what i am missing, i got a c500 and I need some protection from the MuthaInLaw (MIL).

1) Programmable Infra Red - For controlling the Tv/Video/Dvd/MuthaInLaw

2) Voice Recorder - Recording the MuthaInLaw swearing and abusing you

3) Cam Flash - Capture the MuthaInLaw throwing punches at you in the dark !

4) USB Mass Storage Mode - Use your SD Card as a USB storage device - Anything she dont understand is a good thing !

5) Webcam Mode - Connect to Pc to use the camera for CTV - In case the MuthaInLaw attacks

6) All those other things that ppl think of that dont get integrated - except for Pro-MuthaInLaw type ideas which I daren't think of....

Hi dude - first thing, I think you need to see a psychiatrist about your mother-in-law persecution complex. If they decide it's for real, then go to the police!!!

Right, so far as I know:

- All Smartphone IR ports work on the wrong frequencies to be TV/stereo/whatever remotes. Sorry but until they come out with a bluetooth remoted TV it's not going to happen!

- A voice recorder has been in all Smartphones since day one! Either press the voice record button (by the volume rocker) or, if you haven't got one, hold the volume rocker up until Voice notes open. Now just press record when she's close...

- Camera - yup! Flash - nope! A flash is still supported in the Registry, so it's just a case of HTC putting one into the phone.

- USB Mass-storage mode, not unless you fancy carrying round your Activesync installation CD everywhere you go.

- Webcam mode - no. You could take a photo and then add it over GPRS to a blog, but you'd need to be a really quick typist with a huge GPRS bundle to make it happen. Even then, it'll be 20 fph(our) rather than fps.

The C550 is still a great phone, just not quite the all-singing, all-dancing answer to everyone's prayers yet. :)

The C550 is basically a C500 with a better screen and camera, apart from that the functionality is pretty similar.

Oh, and Confused Stu doesn't have a MIL until later this month so doesn't know what it's like... :)

Don't know what it's like? I only officially got rid of the last one less than a year ago, so I'm about to move onto my second! I don't think there's anything you could teach me about MIL's that I haven't already suffered from! :)

Sorry to disappoint, but the weddings still happening on the 20th! I did try by suggesting we could hold the reception AT the MoDaCo event, but it didn't go down well. Still, the doctors say I should regain 50% of my hearing in that ear within 6 months.... :)
