Hi all,

I've just bought an SPV C500 and I can see it's going to do everything and more than I could want from a mobile phone device in between the PC at work and PC at home but no FM Radio in between...I've been using a Nokia for the past 3 years on the train on the commute and really can't do without it now! I know I'll have the MP3 player to play all those MP3s I've got but I really need the Radio!

Please please please tell me someone out there has figured out how to install one as an application or any other method. How much it will kill the battery life make the phone run like a dog really doesn't matter to me I just need the radio and really can't be carrying another device after I thought I'd just struck the holy grail :)

Thanks for any replies.

Michael

Well you have a few options.

Download Podcasts.

Record Radio Shows yourself then put them on your phone.

Use online streaming radios.

The only way to add a radio to a smartphone would be in some form of SD card, and that is not available atm as far as I know.

Why dont you pick up a cheap 1 quid radio? I have one its great. I also had a problem with moving froma nokia, bit of a pain, but I make do.

Sorry you'll have to elaborate on a few of those as I'm not fully up with all the latest stuff. Recording the shows is no good as I'm after the news updates etc as these came in really useful recently as I commute into central London.

So what is a Podcast? Is it a live radio stream? Could you get Radio 1 etc

Online streaming sounds like I'd need to go through GPRS? Could end up being expensive replacing something that is free at the moment with 2 hours of GPRS bandwidth each day

How would I add a radio through the secure digital card load it on as an application?

Firstly, A podcast is a recorded radio show that you can download. It would be no use if you want up to date news.

Online streams use ALOT of gprs unless you have a wifi, which you may not have.

To my knowledge there is no such thing as an SD radio at the moment.

So your best option is to get ya self down to poundland and 'splash' out on a 1 pound compact radio.

Ahh okay looks like this is not going to happen.. how difficult would it have been for them to add a radio feature, not much I reckon. Maybe I'll just nail the £1 radio to the phone to make it still one device to carry.. arrrgggh!

Thanks for the replies.

lol, no probs. Shame there isn't something like a SDIO radio card. I could use one.

SDIO Wifi, 1 gb memory and FM radio all in one........ If only.........

I was pretty sure i've seen a sido fm card, no memory on it so i'd still rather carry around a radio anyway.

(If i can track it down i'll let you know)

Yer. But I wouldn't be able to cope without all my programs on the SD card.

Sounds good I won't be filling my SPV up with that many apps so could live with the SD slot being taken up by that no problem. Please post if you find it anywhere.

thanks, Michael
