Guest ah5150 Posted August 7, 2005 Report Posted August 7, 2005 i think this is a 3G development - thought this was already out (like b4 BigBro started)
Guest Matt Kirby Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 It is 3G only, and it only works on the Nokia 6680 phone, and you have to pay £10 per month, and it's only for selected channels / clips. Basically if you cough up the £10 per month you get 1 gig of data (for TV use only) to download specially selected clips from Orange word- and it sounds like there is only news, the odd cartoon, and pap like BB. It aint TV as we know it. News item on The Reg.
Guest Pagemakers Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 It's not clips. It's continuous streaming live TV.
Guest inlinesk8a Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 so its not possible on my o2-c500
Guest Pagemakers Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 Not really. You will firstly need a 3G Windows Smartphone and then somebody like Orange will have to provide the Live TV software....Just as they have done on the Nokia 6680.

Guest kurtfhouse Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 Just a quick note about Orange TV. I 'up'graded to the 6680 from my Jam as I wanted to give 3G a bash while waiting for the Universal and I ahve to say it utter crap. I have a full 3G signal in my flat and it would constantly freeze the video and then it would freeze the sound and then it would lose the signal all together etc etc. You would have to be crazy to pay £10 for it, it so unreliable you wouldn't use it if it was free to be honest. Stick to AVI's on a big memory card at the moment. No doubt things will improve in the not too distant future.
Guest dolphinsmile Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 I had a visit to the rubbish site smartphone.net and purchased PocketstreamerPro, for £7 and now can watch online TV which isn’t to bad. I have a ten mb bundle which still hasn’t gone down much. Telly is fun on a mobile.
Guest hodula1 Posted August 17, 2005 Report Posted August 17, 2005 I use ORB and IMO, it is better than any Live TV service any service provider will be offering anytime soon. If you have broadband at home, with Orb, you have access to all the channels you have at home. Service providers have to worry about licensing issues, so I know it would be a while before they would be able to offer a lot of channels.
Guest Tunney Posted August 17, 2005 Report Posted August 17, 2005 I've tried Orange's 3G TV service (it's free for the first 3 months) and it's OK for watching the news most of the time but I wouldn't pay £10/month for it. Now, if they offered 1GB of non-TV data for £10/month I would bite their hands off. :)
