Guest atownswhizkid Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 Has anybody found a program that can allow a smartphone to have WiFi or does the phone automatically have to come with the phone from the factory. If you know of one please post it

If you know of one please post it <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I read somewhere that there was a Mini Sd wifi card coming , if so yhat would work in the c500 etc as long as manufacturer has thought about the drivers.
Guest nedge2k Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 Erm...whats this got to do with the Magician? FYI: miniSD WLAN card wont fit in a c500/c550 without modification.
Guest uzi_999 Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 the c500/550's dont support sdio anyway- or mini-sdio.. or do they??
Guest JBW Posted August 18, 2005 Report Posted August 18, 2005 It is not very feasible to get WiFi on current smartphones, however there are upcoming HTC smart phone models that do support it. Honestly I haven't found anything currently out there to make me want to upgrade my typhoon so I personally don't mind waiting until phones with wifi hit the market.
Guest JOEJOETHEJOEY Posted August 19, 2005 Report Posted August 19, 2005 I've been loging for one too. The furture's bright! Th future's Qtek 8300 and Qtek 8310. 2 new Microsoft smartphones announced : Qtek 8300 and Qtek 8310 - both with built-in Wi-Fi and Windows Mobile 5.0 !
Guest nvkid909 Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 wifi is listed in the [PHM] reistry editor somewhere on my c500... is that always in the regedit program (bearing in mind its smartphone edition), or has the phone got some wifi implementation? would one just need the card & drivers then (with some modification)?
Guest Confucious Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 Rumour has it that some trouble maker has already modded a C500 to use one of the mini SD WiFi cards. If we give him a nudge2k do you think he'd tell us how?

If you go to Socket Communications you can see they've got a driver for their SDIO WLAN cards for it sat there, and have had for a while. So given that the Sagem runs Windows Mobile for Phones 2003, it almost certainly means that the plain old E200 will work with a WiFi card too. Hmmm full size SD slot anyone? :)
Guest skanna Posted September 14, 2005 Report Posted September 14, 2005 Has anyone got a WiFi card working on an E200, or even on the Sagem MY-X7? Still got my E200 lying around collecting dust. Are the drivers compatible with the E200? What's this I read about requiring SDIO Now! rather that just plain SDIO?
