Guest Perfectionist Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/4GB-sd-card-not-2gb-...1QQcmdZViewItem
Guest Disco Stu Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 I've seen a news article announcing them, though don't actually remember the make. The price quoted was something like $699 (+P&P :) ) if I remember correctly. At that price Salma Hayek is still a better bet.... ;)
Guest spvdk Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 Be carefull! I bet you this is a fraud. The seller have only 5 feedbacks, so give your money to charity or something else instead, because you will never see this card anyway.
Guest bronksy Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 there's little doubt the product is genuine.. as to the seller.. well who knows.. It was only launched at the end of July though.. already on ebay? I cannot see any online store selling it yet. Not even expansys it seems doubtful it's a real sale, but for sure its a genuine product. Perhaps ask for some actual photos of it and not the press pic that is on the sale page? http://www.dpreview.com/news/0507/05072804pretec_4gbcard.asp http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/07/27/pretec_4gb_sd/
Guest tonijj Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 Hmm, sellers details: FREEPOST FREEPOST......yeah, a fraud for sure...
Guest PayableOnDeath Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 Hmm, sellers details: FREEPOST FREEPOST......yeah, a fraud for sure... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> whys that? postage on SD card wont be much plus with bids are allready over £100 with 7days left think it will Loads higher yet so am sure he can afford to lose some cost But with anything on Ebay Be careful
Guest Perfectionist Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 I thought that Ebay's verification process would scare off any "casual" scammers ??? I know I had to give personal bank details etc etc when I registered ..... kinda put a crimp in all my own scam plans :) ..... plus I'd have all the angry customers coming to my house to kick my ass !!
Guest squall Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 most ebay scammers are based in eastern europe, and countries where the laws or the police arent as good at stopping fraud. Still even for those based in the uk there are always ways to get around rules if they are determined, the best defence is to be careful, if something looks dodgy then stear clear
Guest tha_neo Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 Don´t understand why people bid on him? Are they so stupid? Seriously? The seller bought some coins and some other crap just to get 5 points. heheh
Guest Confused Stu Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 Interesting! He's been a member of Ebay only just over a month, he's bought five things so far, hasn't spent over a tenner on any of them, at least three of them look illegal, and now he's selling a couple of hundred quid memory card that's only just been announced by the manufacturers...... Call me suspicious, but I think I'll be making a better fiscal decision and using my wad of £10 notes as firelighters rather than bidding on this item! :)
Guest hunyango_uk Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 hmmmmmmmmm......................... this is a fraud, i'm positive about it. you all have say that: 1. this person is a member on ebay for a month(feedback is very important and how long the person become a member on ebay ) 2. the item i think should be higher than his price(probably 4-5 times higher). 3. the pic used is very suspicious(probably taken from some sites). 4. the person put the item on ebay even it's not released yet.

Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 And on that note Topic Locked Remember guys no abusive flaming.
Guest ectobia Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 This is a common scam on ebay. The seller has hack the SD card so that it shows up as 4 gig available. But it won't let you fit more than 2 Gig. go read on ebay.com theres articles about this. Remember 99% of 4gb flash drives, cards, etc are all fakes Not that i'm saying there isnt a legit one there. But obviously at the price is it a fake. hope this helps -Drew
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 ectobia Welcome to the site ;) Not sure why you posted on such an old thread that's two years out of date. Memory cards have now far exceeded the 2GB mark so saying 99% of 4GB cards are fakes is not quite true in todays market. Chceck out www.mobymemory.com they have 4GB in most types of cards and I use a 6GB microSD without any problems.
