Ok me and some friends have been having issues with MMS and resizing an image before it's sent. I feel utterly thick, but you can set the output resolution for mms images only.

This can be found in

INBOX>TOOLS>MMS SETTINGS then at the bottom you have photo resolution, bingo! This doesn't affect the original image!

I'm feeling very proud of myself for actually working this out, although i'm sure you all knew it anyways.
