Poor battery life with 1Gb SD card

I'm planning to use TomTom Mobile 5 on my spv c500, and have bought a 1Gb mini SD card. Since installing the card & software, (not used TomTom yet) my battery life has plummeted. Can anybody help ?

Is that a SanDisk? Many years ago, some CF cards would cause the same problem. Most cards would not use so much power when not in use, but those SanDisks did. I can't recall the brand, but SanDisk is always the one with some sort of problem.

I'happy user of 1G memory (sandisk) - on c500 of course :)

I'm Also using TT5 - no problem so far with battery life.

You could use a SD Card switch which will turn it off. It is available at modaco...just search....i used it with O2 xPhone....had the same problem of battery life drain....
