Guest James Cridland Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 After upgrading to the new Orange ROM, complete with Windows Media 10, all of a sudden I have a problem. My phone is very quiet. Playing back Windows Media files, or using whatever betaPlayer is called these days, results in barely audible audio. Even cycling through available ringtones is really quiet. However, when you ring it, it's bloody loud (if set to be). And system noises, if I choose, are also really really loud. So, I think there's a configuration problem with the phone: that 'ordinary' volume is virtually non-existent, while ringtones, system noises, etc, are as normal. Have I missed anything in my settings? Is there a registry key I can edit to restore a sensible volume? Has anyone else seen this?
Guest Maxrom Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 I had a similar thing with my C500 when I first got it, but my issue was just down to me being unfamiliar with it. Anyway, just in case it helps, have you tried using the volume buttons on the left side of the phone at the top. While in a call, these will adjust the volume of the earpiece, but outside of a call, it appears to adjust the volume of just about everything. I was playing music at full volume in WMP10, but could barely hear it until I turned up the volume using those buttons. Like I say, I was just being stupid with a new phone, and not reading instructions  , so it might not be the problem you have, but I thought I'd post this just in case it helps....!
Guest James Cridland Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 Amazing. Play something in WMP10. Turn volume up to 100%. Turn earpiece volume down to 0. Regardless of what the screen tells you, your phone is now muted. Rubbish. Thanks for pointing out the bleeding obvious: all works well! j
