WMP remote v1 released!

Hi! Some of you may remember that I had created an application for the SPV's to allow you to remotly control WMP from your SPV to your PC.... using GPRS/bluetooth/USB

The purpose for this app was simply to control what files are playing on your computer from the power of your SPV without having to get up or go back upstairs to the computer and change the current track! So, ideal for those hot dates.... or even a small party in the backyard....

Well, I am glad to say - I have finished it! :D

A good few of my colleagues were very very impressed as well as some close friends, and you guys too! There has been a dramatic change in the application in terms of the stability and functionality.

this is what is featured in this version:

- Allows you to connect to the "Server" using either GPRS/bluetooth/USB cable

- Can check for updates on request on the net and download the update for you in the appropriate directory as explained in the documentation (VERY VERY VERY clever and powerful stuff!) Can check for the client and server update and download it for you

- Send IM's like MSN Messenger to and from the server for simple chat with the client (SPV)

Information about the update functionality:

I have edited this part to notify you that I have successfully completed on finding a great hoster to allow me to remotly host the Web service to update the software on request. It fully works and it is advisable to download from this thread the newly updated software which references the new link to the website!

the WMP Remote has an update and is advisable to not download from this attachment but from the link provided above. You can still run the attached file below but the update functionality will not work ;)

remember to run this on your SPV not on the PC otherwise it will not work because of the way the application gets the details of the environment you are in ;)

would it be poss for u to share ur work as i would like this to be ported to pocket pc. I would do it if i knew how but i havent a clue how to.

i'd like to req some1 to port it in the pocketpc section but asking if thats ok with u first. i plan on getting a c500 which this should work on but thats not for a while and im sure i will be using my pocket pc more as im getting wifi card for it soon and yes i know theres programs to this this to wifi but i dont hav it yet

well, i am currently making v2 and its almost complete and a huge improvement in some areas...

as for making it for PPC... i would but give me a PPC device ;) lol. I dont see why this should not work on PPC ... it should run as long as you have .NET CF 1.1+ installed on the device.
