Hi there,

I'm about to buy a GPS receiver for my SPV C500 running TomTom 5 and I quite like the look of the Holux 236 GPS receiver.

I've done a search on the forums and I can't see anywhere that anyone is using one?

So, before I order, can anyone confirm if they have one, or have tried one and got it to work with TomTom?

If not, can anyone recommend a receiver?

Thanks.

Do eBay sellers now include a TT GPS and a box with their copied *pirated* software????

Surely someone knows about this GPS receiver?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I've used this with Ipaq 4150 and also on an I-mate Jam for over 2 months.

I would definately recommend it. I never keep the gps on the dash any more, due to the SiRF III chip in the receiver, I keep the receiver in the glovebox out of sight.

Battery life is around 10 hours so that see's me through the day driving.

I've tested the Receiver on the following Software and it works well;

Tomtom 3 PPC, Tomtom 5 PPC (upgraded from verison 3 - not pirate software)

Co-Pilot Live 5, Alturion & Destinator.

I've also seen it running on the SPV C500 running Destinator SP and CoPilot.

It's small, light, an excellent performer and it looks the part too... :)

Hi,

Did you have to do any special configuration on your SPV to get it to work?

I've added the GPS receiver as a bluetooth device to my phone - which is recognises , but the Tom Tom Software doesnt acknowledge that there is a GPS device connected.

When I used my Navman 4400 BT receiver it works completely fine

I think you need to rename the GPSlim as Tomtom Wireless GPS - I know you had to do something like that in TTN3 so not 100% what procedure is with TTN5. What version are you using? Also how is your GPS configured in the GPS Status screen?
