Preview: Spectec miniSD WLAN Card

Hola all, just a little preview of the miniSD Wifi card from Spectec. Click on the pics above for more info and bigger pics. Basically, too big for Typhoon/Hurricane (as expected). No i havent got Smartphone drivers yet...but im working on it :)

Full review comming soon along with a few other cool little gizmos ;)

UPDATE: Done a bit of modding to spare C500 and have added some pics of how it looks. Click the pics above for more. Still havent sent me the drivers yet but they tell me they exist.

Due to the time difference with Taiwan, it looks like im gonna have to wait til tomoro for the SP drivers. I hope thats why they havent replied to me yet anyway :)

nedge if you get this working with the smartphone i will move to news, but for now i dont think there's anything new here, the mini sd thing has been talked about before.

would be cool if they did make drivers tho :)

how did you do the mod?

it looks like you cut stuff out and removed a metal thing

does it require the phone to be pulled apart?

also im not sure what the technology has to offer.... will it work like wifi or will i just see the SD card as a shared resourse on my network?

ah.....

Spectec told me that the Smartphones i tested the card on (C500 and MPx220) are not SDIO compatible! I may have overlooked something here but i was sure that at the very least the MPx220 was SDIO? There was speculation on whether the Typhhoon was or not due to it being internal miniSD but there was nothing concrete. They could be wrong, i hope they are wrong. I think i'll reserve judgement on this until they have a fully working drivers available.

The SMT5600 does not suport SDIO.
