Guest jsnielsen Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 (edited) Hey all, first of all, I know the difference between the GPRS being in use (small g at the reception scale), and the G telling me GPRS is available. How do I make the phone NOT check if GPRS is available ? The thing is, it's seems to be draining all of the phones battery. Seriosly, before I could use the phone for 2 days without recharding, now I can't go a full day without doing so. I used this phone with a SIM card from the operator my company uses. Then I changed to the RAZR V3, same SIM card. I then moved to Jutland, new SIM card (same operator though). RAZR V3 display broke cause cat thought it was funny to drop it from the table to the floor. Went back to SPV C500. SIM card from after moving to Jutland in the phone, charged the phone. Everything worked like before. Except for the battery ! The phone has been turned off for something like 4 months, I should tell you. I also tried upgrading to the newest Orange UK ROM, didn't solve this problem. Software installed: Facade (newest beta) X-Bar (2.6) TCPMP Agile Messenger 3.0 I believe that's it actually... Bluetooth is disabled. I thought that was what's draining the battery, but the drainage didn't stop when I disabled BT. I deleted all WAP/GPRS connections, doesn't matter. Anybody got any clues, tips or solutions ? Edited August 11, 2005 by jsnielsen
Guest Will Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 I think it's flagged by the network when providing the signal information, really cannot see it being a problem, and certainly never heard of an increase in battery life putting a non gprs compatible sim in the phone. (but i'm happy to be proven wrong of course!)
Guest gorcorps Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 If it has an IR port make sure that's disabled as well (don't know the phone well). That drains a lot of battery power.
Guest Geeklord Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 When I got my phone from the operator, I had to request to have GPRS turned on. I guess you can request to have it turned off.
