Hi there

I hope i'm not repeating a previous post. I did search about for half an hour and found nothing. So here goes.

My problem is with the number 4 key and the back key on my (Orange) sim unlocked SPV E200. Whenever trying to type text if I press the afore mentioned keys they repeat really quickly i.e. try and back space a character when sms'ing and your entire message is deleated. Same goes when navigating through menu's. It's well out of warranty. I've tried a full hard reset and also have the latest ROM installed. Fresh out of other ideas. Can anyone help? :)

I'm having the same problem. my number 4 key worked intermittently for months then worked ok, now works but won't stop!! if i press it once, it goes mad and writes things like highigihigihigihigihigig and it takes ages to delete it one character at a time.

Any thoughts on what to do with it??

I had a similar problem but in my case number 4 once pressed wouldn't work again until another button was pressed.

In my case it wasn't an ill fitting case as it would happen even when I took the device apart. Unfortunately the only way I could resolve the problem was by getting a replacement HTC Voyager keyboard board (the sd slot is integrated into this board). They're very difficult to get hold of apparently but member Fluffcat1 may be able to help you, as he did me :)

I'd have to say that sadly a Voyager with this fault is now b.e.r (beyond economic repair) based on the time / effort involved and what n.o.s ( new - old stock) handsets go for on ebay - at one point seller ActionAid Recycling had n.o.s french e200's for £40!

The easy fix is to get a new keypad - I say easy, but only if you can source one with a broken screen / board, and even then it will have been used and could well have the same fault. The more difficult fix is identifying which of the surface mount componants has failed and replacing it. Possible but not practicable.

I'd sell it as faulty for parts on ebay and buy a working one to be honest :-(

My keypad goes on the blink after excessive use or if the phone gets pressed in my pocket. I usually pull it outwards until I feel a tiny click. And voila, it's back to normal. :)
