Guest PaulF Posted August 14, 2005 Report Posted August 14, 2005 Hi - I'm very close to getting an M500, but I was wondering if anyone can confirm how the speakerphone function works. I've read you can activate it by pressing and holding the green button during a call - is there any way to configure the M500 to auto answer a call in speakerphone mode? - I think this would be useful to use it in the car (without buying a full 'hands free kit'). I've not been able to find a download of the full manual for the M500 (only the getting started one), so I've been reading other manuals. I don't think the XDAII is exactly the same (the buttons are different) - but I assume it uses the same software?? In the XDAII manual, there is this: Is it possible to activate the loudspeaker on my Xda II before choosing a telephone number? Is it possible to permanently turn the loudspeaker on loud, so I do not have to press the green button? Dial a number and let it ring a couple of times without answering. End the call from Xda II (by pressing Disconnect or tapping End, and immediately tap the signal icon (at the top of your device) and tap Turn Wireless Off. Immediately, press and hold the green call button (insert button) until the speakerphone symbol appears. Your Xda II will be now use speakerphone mode for every call. To switch speakerphone mode off, soft reset your Xda II. It's not ideal, but it proves the functionality is there. Why don't the manufacturers / programmers make this kind of function more accesible? (being cynical - it's probably so they can sell more hands free kits!!) If anyone has an M500 they can try this on I'd be grateful, or if anyone else has found a good way of using the Speakerphone funtion. Cheers, PaulF
Guest Confused Stu Posted August 14, 2005 Report Posted August 14, 2005 Just tried it, and haven't found the option to turn Wireless off. It gives you the option to turn flight mode on (thought it might be same thing) but doesn't turn speakerphone on in my case. Sorry mate, I don't know of a way of putting on speakerphone without holding the green button during a call. :)

At least with the M500 there's a possibilty someone could write an app to do this..... Cheers, Paul
