Guest ian_dazookeeper Posted August 14, 2005 Report Posted August 14, 2005 ok, i might be in the wrong place - not sure. i am thinking of buying an imate jam.... when i have looked at all web sites selling them, i have found a few that mention it has wifi but others dont mention it... can anyone clear this up for me please thank you ian
Guest Confused Stu Posted August 14, 2005 Report Posted August 14, 2005 The JAM doesn't come with WiFi built in. However, SD card WiFi are adapters are pretty cheap and work well with the JAM, so you can get around this problem that way (that's what I've done anyway!) :)

Guest vijay555 Posted August 15, 2005 Report Posted August 15, 2005 If you look on ebuyer I've posted a review of teh cheapest SD wifi card. Nice and small and works well - £20ish. If it's for home use, also consider bluetooth networking, which will be even cheaper £6ish for bluetooth dongle, if required. V

Im probably just blind or something, but I cant find SD cards with WiFi. Secondly, I thought that the I-Jam (qtek S100) didnt support SD cards with Wifi and built in memory, atleast not according to their FAQ. Anyone can confirm?

Its really cheap as well, the ones I looked at cost about £50 and up. Guess I'll order this one asap, thanks again!
Guest tonijj Posted August 15, 2005 Report Posted August 15, 2005 Now, there are no rates for Int'l shipping and their contact system sucks! I just hope that they dont overprice on the S&H like an old crazy lady like most E-store do...
Guest ian_dazookeeper Posted August 15, 2005 Report Posted August 15, 2005 just so i am 100%... if i had a wifi sd card with a jam, would this mean i could find wifi hotspots and connect to the internet and in such places as mc donalds? :)
Guest Confused Stu Posted August 15, 2005 Report Posted August 15, 2005 Yes you can (I've tested it). Although most McDonald's use BT OpenZone, which I'm sure is a subscription site. Handily, the two McDonald's nearest me are in town centres and from inside them my phone can pick up other peoples unsecured WiFi networks - so I just connect to them instead! It may be immoral, but it's cheaper, and some of us can't afford morals just yet! :)
