QTEK finland has launched information on two new HTC phones.

The QTEK 8300 and 8310.

post-2019-1124137534_thumb.jpgpost-2019-1124137550_thumb.jpg

Apparently they have the following specs.:

Processor: TI OMAP 200 MHz + TI E-Syren

OS system: Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 SmartPhone Edition

Band: Quad-Band GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

Ringtones: midi/mp3/wav,

Akku: Li-Ion 1050 mAh, standby 250h, talk-time 5h

Memory: Flash ROM 64MB, 32MB SDRAM

Screen: 2,2" TFT LCD QVGA, 64k color, 240 x 320 pixels

Camera: 1.3 Megapixel Video/Still-kamera, digital zoom

Slot: MiniSD–card

Data: USB, IrDA , Bluetooth

Software: Pocket Outlook, Pocket Internet Explorer, Media Player 10 (mm. wma, wmv, MP3), Video Player (MPEG4), MSN Messenger, MMS, WAP, Java Midlet (MIDP-2.0), Wireless Modem,

Size: 107.5 mm x 46,2 mm x 17,5 mm

Weight: 106 g

At the same time rumours talk about WiFi, but I seriously doubt it (though it would be nice).

Furthermore - the norwegian site MySmartphone.no tells that Qtek 8200 (SPV C550) is being withdrawn from the Norwegian market, because QTEK will launch information on 3 (!) new products the 29´th of August. Two of those will be smartphones, so my best guess is that we are talking about QTEK 8300 and 8310. Still we can be waiting for a Phone Edition..

EDIT:

Mobile-review has the first review RIGHT HERE (fast)

And they CONFIRM Wi-FI. (no pictures though)

Thanks to Anton Kotov from Mobile-Review..

The Tornado is based on the TI OMAP 850 chipset. Info can be read on TI site RIGHT HERE

EDIT:

Obviously there is somethng else out there. AT THIS LINK a product codenamed Faraday is said to replace the SMT5600 from Audiovox, to be launched the 21st October.

To bad it still doesn`t have a touchscreen like the philips 766 or 968. It even has almost the same processor like my c500 (I know de cpu is better with the wifi possibilities), i hoped for some xscale cpu. I will hope for some more on the 29´th :) !

What's the difference between the 8300 and 8310?

8310 - At last a smartphone with what looks like decent buttons. Wifi. Hallelujah, it must be Christmas :)

it does look nice, but i doubt we will see it on orange (or anyother uk network)

that edge thing never took off over here, damn those expensive 3g licences (and the lack of an edge network)

Actually Luxeon produces a perfect flash LED AT THIS LINK.

Someone should try to implement it in a C500..

...Or buy a dogital camera :)

What about the HTC Faraday as mentioned in the startpost? It should replace the "SMT 5600" Can't find anything about this device.

but tbh... why have a phone and digicamera when you could easily integrate them :/

Good to know, the Qtek 8300 (the one with media buttons) isn't a Tornado but the HTC Blizzard.

200Mhz?

Isn't the application everyone wants WiFi for Skype? Which requires 400Mhz or more?

Apart from the whole WiFi internet hotspots, what else is WiFi good for?

Being in Cornwall, having none or very little WiFi hotspots this isn't a big deal.

It seems all HTC do is take the size of the C500 and muck around with the button locations.

Seeing as i've just ordered a C550 (arriving tomorrow!) all i want is an upgrade to WM2005, and i'm still confused why i would even want that. Maybe i just want a WM smartphone to be functional out of the box without waiting for a rom update which comes out 2 months before its time to upgrade my phone again. If i ever redo my CV i'll be sure to put down 2002-2005 HTC beta tester! :)

...Inspiration comes standard :)

No just kidding, I really like the aesthetic design. Classy yet clear and simple.

agent.m, I'm afraid it has a 5 directional joystick.

My best guess is that it is the silver 8300 which is codenamed Faraday and the 8310 is codenamed Tornado..

Tornado is playform (platform). Faradey is product name. Both models are based on Torndo playform.

That 8310 is exactly what the docter called for :).

QVGA is a biggy for me but I really hate these childisch mediabuttons taking up all the space on the C550 which could have been put to better use.. If I want play and pause buttons I'll buy a freakin' Ipod..

Wonder when this one will become available ?

I'll second that! I was going to go buy a C550 this weekend but those daft buttons do bug me. Do you think there is any chance of the 8310/Tornado/c600/whatever it's called coming to Orange before the end of September?

I thought both the 8300 and 8310 are tornado - the lizzard I believe is a concept phone offering pocket pc edition and a 2.4" qvga screen... something else to look out for! Except I wonder how much battery power a pocket pc phone would chew because of its better processor and power vs the traditional smartphone...
