Guest Paul [MVP] Posted November 27, 2002 Report Posted November 27, 2002 Right, so here's the deal. The SPV E-Mail client does not allow you to attach pictures currently. Compose a new MMS, add the picture, and select send. Then, when the list of people with their mobile numbers come up, scroll to the one you want, and press RIGHT on the direction pad to display the e-mail address instead. Press send! Voila, it's sent. Note however that the recipient will see the e-mail is from [email protected] (your number). This address cannot be replied to! P
Guest Rob.P Posted November 27, 2002 Report Posted November 27, 2002 Presumebly you are still paying for an MMS? Or does the GPRS kick in meaning it's a proper email?
Guest sebset Posted November 28, 2002 Report Posted November 28, 2002 If it's true then it's really a scandal! grrrrrrr :x :x my topic if somebody could help me to find an issue: http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=239
Guest pierre Posted December 5, 2002 Report Posted December 5, 2002 It all looks like it's gonna be billed as MMS... All: do send as many complaints' feedbacks, coz all other cell like 7650 do have ability to send picture by email.
Guest Eddy Posted December 6, 2002 Report Posted December 6, 2002 Amazing that no one has worked out that MMSs can be sent to not only mobiles but (here it comes) email addresses!! Hi folks! You will be charged for an MMS if you do this. Smartphone is an OS. It can be updated. Go to the Microsoft website and request email attachments for Smartphone, do the same at orange.co.uk. They may listen if we all ask. (may be a first) Handango will probably provide an application for this, but they will charge you for it.
Guest sebset Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 With Smartphone 2002 it is impossible to send an email with an attached file... However it is possible to receive an email + file and to transfer it thereafter. You can use the Forward option to do it. Forward option is interesting because it is possible to replace the attached file by an other one. But it is not as simple as that... I have the solution! :D :( :(
Guest sebset Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 You can read the solution on the French SPV forum: http://www.smartphony.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=255 You can use www.reverso.net translator to read this procedure. This procedure should work for all kind of Email attachment (jpg, wav, mp3, xml, etc.). If somebody find a solution to automatise this procedure (with javascript?) he will be welcome!!! CU
Guest mantrac Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 Another clear proof that the functionality of the SPV has been compromised in the name of quick profit from the MMS scam! I bet you there is some registry switch in there that will enable the inclusion of attachments from any e-mail message (whether new or forwarded). I find it impossible to believe that someone has built an e-mail client and hardcoded the instruction to attach files only when forwarding a message!! Now, how do I access the system registry?? I know that there is a way of doing this through the eMbedded toolkit but since the certification was put in place, I don't think I'll be able to run regedit on the device (?)
Guest Michael Eyres Posted December 17, 2002 Report Posted December 17, 2002 P... Re: "When the list of people with their mobile numbers come up." in you message... I was pleased to see what I thought was the answer for sending an Email with attahced picture. However... when I get to the send box no entries are listsed. If I press the central button like other places I get an alert saying no entries rather that drop down list of contacts. "When the list of people with their mobile numbers come up."
Guest sebset Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 I posted my solution here: http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=1000 CU
Guest rewe Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 so does it cost anything to send a picture by e-mail?
Guest sebset Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 so does it cost anything to send a picture by e-mail? It will be deducted from your GPRS subscription (e.g: 6£/Euros for 10Mb/month). An MMS costs something as 0.40£ in UK I think. CU :D
Guest pierre Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 My conclusion is I'll wait and hope for a new release that allows email'attachements as this procedure is too complicated in my opinion. Till then I'll use my GD-87 to send easy and beautiful snaps by email..!
Guest sebset Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 Mais c'est pas la peine de crier... si ça t'intéresse pas tu n'est pas obligé de l'utiliser... cordialement :D [Edited by madukrainian] This is an English forum, please don't disadvantage other users. No need for doublepost in 2 languages... And yes, no need to SHOUT by Pierre!!
Guest sebset Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 In English: But it is not really necessary to shout... If it doesn't interest you then you are not obliged to use it... regards :D
Guest pierre Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 Sebset, I wasn't making noise, just freely expressing my opinion. I would add that we live in a fast pace world and am sure that the majority of users agree that this procedure is too much time consumming, not worth it... Yet, it's a nice discover, best compliments for the great job!
Guest sebset Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 Yea! I'm sure also that a simply solution will be added in the next version of MS Smartphone  thanks again for the compliment bye :D
Guest casper508 Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 Hi, just got my SPV the other day. Have been trying to send email thru MMS by replacing phone# with email address but it doesnt seem to work. Has anyone had any success??
Guest Treadsoftly Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 This seems to have worked for me. Are you using the add to; option and selecting the sddress from your contacts list? This was successful for me. i haven't tried manual entry of email address
