Contact Custom Ringtones

I have noticed the following

If you store ringtones under storage\application data\sounds they are available for use in sounds and custom ring tones in contacts.

However if you store them under Storage Card\My Documents they are available for use in sounds but do not appear under custom ringtones in contacts!

Does anybody know why and more importantly is there a fix?

I would much rather store all my ringtones on my SD card that use the phones resources.

My phone is an SPV C550

Try to put them in root of the Storage Card ,it should work.

Thanks for the advice which I tried - unfortunately it doesn't work. Isuspect there may be a registry key somewhere but I haven't got the time to explore it fully.
