ATT MPX200-Cannot access at all

I bought an AT&T MPX200 that was SUPPOSEDLY unlocked (buyer beware).

As it turns out...it's not. But that's another issue. I simply want to know HOW I can get beyond the screen that tells me to "Insert SIM-Emergency calls only". Even after inserting the SIM and failing to unlock I cannot access ANY other functions of the phone.

I can't find the IMEI because I can't use the keypad, etc. Cannot configure settings such as ringtones, displays, etc.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. I NEED THIS PHONE!

Well, the Insert SIM error would come up if there is no SIM in the phone. Make sure you have a SIM in the phone, and that it is seated properly. The MPx200 is know to have the black SIM tabs that hold the SIM down break off. Take a look under the battery, and see if the black tabs across from the silver slider are there. If not, fold up a small piece of paper, and place it on the SIM. Then when you insert the battery, it will hold the SIM down to keep contact. Also, you can find the IMEI on the label under the battery.

Thanks for the reply...but that's not the issue. I have a SIM card and have installed it. The PIN won't unlock the phone. I merely want to be able to access the REMAINDER of the SMARTPHONE menus, etc. without a SIM. Is this possible?

No. You have to have a SIM in the phone to get past the error screen. You either have to get a SIM that is the same brand as the phone, or unlock it to use your SIM. Sorry.

For phone features only,

You first of all need a valid SIM to use the rest of the phone, once you do that then place the phone in flght mode. Then you can power off remove the SIM and then power back on and use the phones other features.
