Guest Deano440 Posted August 21, 2005 Report Posted August 21, 2005 I am considering upgrading my ageing P900 to the m2000 but I have a few unanswered questions that I was hoping you clever guys could help me with!! I would prefer the M2000 to the M500 cos of the bigger screen and WIFI, so my first question would be can I use my laptop that has built in WIFI with the m2000 to connect to the internet or do I need to go out and buy a router?? I read here that people stream video to their m2000 using WIFI again do I need a router for this?? Only other minor question is, I also read that you cannot use your own headphones as the jack is not a regular one, but can you buy an adaptor from somewhere like maplin to convert the headphone jack to a regular 2.5/3.5?? as one of the main things I use my phone for is MP3 on the move and in my car!! Any answers would be marvellous!!! :)

Guest cavuk Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 Also, yes you can use your laptop providing that you have it connected to the net, just run the wireless network wizard in windows and tell it to 'allow other computer to connect to the internet via this computer'. Then tell your M2000 to connect via another computer/gateway.
Guest Deano440 Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 Thanks for your reply Cavuk. Does anyone know anything about streaming video to the M2000 via WIFI?
Guest dreamweavel Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 If you install Resco Explorer you can map network drives to your PC and watch vids from there via wifi using any media player. I use this to turn my M2000 into a really decent MP3 player too using PocketMusic but you can do the same with media player. Media player streams video from the internet. You can also get RealPlayer for the PPC and watch vids over wifi from the internet.

Guest fraser Posted September 1, 2005 Report Posted September 1, 2005 It's in the settings for the existing network connection I think. There's a "share this connect" check-box somewhere in the network setup.
