I am looking to set up GPRS with my unlocked SPV C500 on the vodafone network in Ireland.

I have searched the net ,contacted Oragne tech support and vodafone tech support in ireland.

They dont know the settings for this particular phone??

Ive tried the settings for other mobile phones that have GPRS in ireland to no avail.

Also i am looking for MMS setting but in not too worried about this.

Any ideas?

I did a quick search for the Vodafone Ireland GPRS data and put this together. Hopefully it will work OK :)

First delete all existing diaup, proxy and GPRS connections.

Create the GPRS Internet data and try connecting to http://www.google.com

Create the GPRS WAP data and try connecting to http://www.google.com

Let us know if you get any errors, and what the errors are.

Try this for the WAP connection and see it connects.

Access point: wap.vodafone.ie

it says "the page you are looking for cannot be found"

this is while checking for http://www.google.com

The 'page not found' error tells you that APN wap.vodafone.ie (+ username and password) is valid although there is a problem with data transfer, possibly caused by the proxy settings. This APN is good to use :)

I did notice that I had previously made an error with the APN live.vodafone.com as I had called it live.vodafone.ie by mistake  You can try this APN again but if you get a 'connection fail' then it's of no use.

I've added the DNS server for good luck although it's usually not needed.

Try the following and let us know if you get any luck.

Create GPRS connection.

Description: GPRS WAP

Connects to: The Internet

Access point: wap.vodafone.ie or live.vodafone.com

User name: dublin

Password: dublin

Primary DNS: 213.233.128.1

Secondary DNS:

IP address:

Create proxy connection

Description: WAP Proxy

Connects from: The Internet

Connects to: WAP network

Proxy (name:port): 010.024.059.100:80

Type: HTTP

Username:

Password:

In Settings - Data connections

Internet connection: GPRS WAP

WAP connection: GPRS WAP

In IE, Set 'Select network: 'The Internet' and try www.google.com

This will test the GPRS connection without the proxy server.

IN IE, Set 'Select network: WAP network' and try www.google.com

This will test the GPRS connection with proxy server.

If both fail with 'page not found' the try changing the proxy server settings and continue testing with the WAP connection. i.e

Proxy (name:port): 010.024.059.100

Type: HTTP

Proxy (name:port): 010.024.059.100

Type: WAP

Proxy (name:port): 010.024.059.100:9201

Type: WAP

(test port 9201 with www.google.com/wml)

You could also try connecting to http://live.vodafone.com
