A new user - Home page components

Can someone clarify something for me. I'm a pocket pc user who is now trying out a couple of smartphones.

Is there an option to select which items to display on the home page - much in the same way you can on the Pocket PC? If so, how is this achieved?? TIA.

It's not as straight forward as with the PPC platform.

What you have to do is choose a skin (theme) that has the items you want to use built in. There is such a vast selection that you will typically find one to suit.

Failing that though, you can always design your own. There are homescreen designers available but many users have got to grips with xml editing and created their own from scratch. I've not done so myself but I believe the only tools you need are Notepad for editing and PaintShop for graphics.

It is a shame it is not as simple as selecting which components you wish to see. I'll have a wee look around for themes - any good resources to check out?
