Guest khattkoo Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 I know whats the problem now, SMT 5600 has a frequency range of 850/1800/1900 where as i need Gsm 900. is there any way of changing the network frequency to 900?
Guest Zone-MR Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 (edited) no its a hardware thing. That was the general belief up till recently, but a discovery by itsme seems to contradict that.... itsme: just figured out that the smt5600: 850+1800+1900 / sp3 : 900+1800+1900 difference is only in software. itsme: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?p...onGsmDataLayout - it has data for all bands. itsme: you can see the channel numbers in the 'rx' data blocks. Guest Confucious Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 (edited) Zone-MR - that shows all 4 bands - isn't that just the software allowing it to use the hardware if it's available? The 5600 uses 850/1800/1900 the C500 uses 900/1800/1900 so the firmware has to have all 4. I have still yet to hear of anyone getting an SMT5600 to work on 900 or a C500 to work on 850. Many people have thought it worked only to realise that the reason reception was "flaky" at best is because it doesn't work! I know if anyone can get it to work you guys can but I still believe squall is right. I'd be happy to be proved wrong! :) Edited August 23, 2005 by Confucious
