OK so I have just received today an SDA from T-mobile (wanted the C550 with Orange but it's a long story...) Charged it up for a couple of hours, tried to turn it on and it did power up but then it wouldn't switch off again so I had to pull the battery out. Now it won't switch on again at all.

I know smartphones take longer to power up than normal phones (this is my first smart phone) so I gave it a good press down but the power button feels all loose and spongy like I'm not making proper contact with anything when I do press down. Is it actually broken or am I missing something here? What should the power button be like? I've emailed T-mobile to ask for packaging to send it back for a replacement but if it turns out there's nothing wrong I'll look like a muppet and they might charge me for delivery again?

Can anyone with an SDA help?

Cheers in advance

make sure its had a good charge first. I did mine for about 6 hours at least. Plus read the start manual. what was the battery status?? did the light on left corner flash orange or green?? what colour is the light when you put the charger in?

Try putting it on to chage then press the power on. see what happens.

I charged it until stayed solid green which means it is fully charged? Got it plugged in now and have pressed the power button again but no joy. When you turn your SDA on how far does the power button go down? Does it feel like you are definitely making some sort of contact with something? When I press mine it just feels loose, like nothing is happening. But I did manage to get it to turn on once when I first got it out of the box. Hmmm...

Will leave it on longer to charge in case the battery indicator is telling me it's fully charged when it's not but I'm not hopeful. Not being able to play with my new toy is killing me :)

Cheers for the help

The power button my SDA is fiddly but you can tell when it has depressed properly. The phone normally lights up within a couple of seconds of pressing the button.

Sounds like you may have a dfaulty phone?

Hope you get it sorted soon mate.

Sounds to me like your power button is faulty. These things happen, ring up t-mobile and they will tell you what to do. Usually they send you an envolope addressed to HTC and then you send it off to HTC who will do the repairs. But if its under 14 days old you should qualify for an outright swap to a new handset.
