Guest stillwaiting Posted November 27, 2002 Report Posted November 27, 2002 hi, can anyone tell me where's the best place to get my hands on an spv. i ordered one last week from mobile republic, on the website it said it would be ready for shipping today, now i received an email telling me their out of stock.

As a result I have contacted the local (southampton) orange branch and they have stock and they are giving me £50 off for my current handset on an upgrade so £50 for the phone ain't bad with retaining my number (although I still think upgrades you should get for the same price as new contracts )

Apparently they've got some in stock, hopefully they won't let me down like mobile republic have, i've already gone and ordered a 128 mb sd card for it, i can't wait to try some movies on the media player.

Guest stillwaiting Posted November 27, 2002 Report Posted November 27, 2002 I placed my first order with mobile republic last week, anytime 200 plan and the spv was free,what they said on the web site was that they would be shipping from the 28th but unfortunately they didn't let me know until today that i would have to wait till next week because they had already run out of stock from their latest shipment . So i don't really mind paying the 20 quid if they keep to their word and deliver on time. Valuemedia.co.uk, its just a little over £50 for 128mb sd card, but i don't know what brand it is, must be cheap though for that price.
Guest Chopper Posted November 27, 2002 Report Posted November 27, 2002 Got my Spv free on your plan 120 (£25 per month)and I can change to a lower tariff after only 1 month from The Link, just walked in the shop and 20 minutes later out with a Spv (no ordering or anything) Shame really as I can't seem to get on with it and am returning it later in the week.

Guest Rob_Quads Posted November 28, 2002 Report Posted November 28, 2002 From what I have picked up lots of places thought they were getting stock yesterday and so people would get them today but it looks like Orange has 'delayed' shipping to them till the end of next week. Stange how most the orange shops have stock :x. Also the Link see to have a few - they must be 'in' with orange at the moment.

They said yes straight away and did'nt check with anyone. When I asked how long before I could change to a lower tarrif they said 1 month. Could'nt believe my luck so I got it there and then. Shame really as I can't get on with it and am going to return it. I really want to keep the phone especially because of the deal I got.

We therefore expect you to receive your handset within the next 5-7 days or sooner. Please accept our apologies for the delay but new stock items sometimes suffer from availability issues. Direct Mobile Phones.com also were out of stock, so i guess i'll be stillwaiting for another week for MR to come through with my spv. Anyway it gives me some time to compress a few movies for my sd card.

This is however not due to software problems are previously thought but as a result of theft. We have been informed that they should be once again available in the next 5 days, we have therefore extended that to 10 days in order to allow for any unforeseen problems. We are aware that you like all customers are very keen to get your hands on the SPV, we have therefore prioritised your order. We apologise once again for the delay. Guest stillwaiting Posted December 3, 2002 Report Posted December 3, 2002 Hi Mooney, I myself haven't received this email as yet but i'm sure i will.I think they're by far the worst company out there at the moment, it's adisgrace that they can get away with advertising such blatant misinformation on their web site. Their service has been disgraceful, they've taken almost over a week to reply to my emails. Anyone reading this don't go to the MOBILE REPUBLIC, they are absolutely useless, you'll be left frustrated and vexed by the whole experience.

On Monday I called and still no Phone. By wednesday I have been told tomorrow, tomorrow , tomorrow more times than I care to repeat. Found Cyren on the web so called them . Only a little shop in Plymouth... Had them in stock and arrived next day. Excellent Service and very helpful. Even called me back after ordering to let me know it had all been registerd and was on its way. So there you go. never heard of them before but would definitely use them again.
