Guest Tobers Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 I lost my charger. Can I get a new one. Nope. Orange customer support cant help. Orange accessories have none in stock and quoted 2-3 weeks, but that was only a guess. No Orange shops have them. Also - you have to buy the charger (assuming you can find one), then also pay another £10 for the teeny little adaptor thing which joins the charger to the phone. Now I have an SPV which is even more useless than usual!
Guest MBoden Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 hint : Buy a USB charger/activesync cable , it costs around 13£
Guest sbsdegb1 Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 If you still have the adapter a nokia 6210 charger will work. Failing that a USb / Sync cable as mentioned above will do. http://www.stores.ebay.co.uk/id=36214385 bought mine from here and arrived in 2 days from them receiving my payment.
Guest dgcorp Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 If you still have the adapter a nokia 6210 charger will work. Can I ask how you know that a Nokia 6210 charger will work (with the adapter or plugged into the cradle)? - Is this just based upon comparitive output figures or something else? And does anyone know where to get the little adaptors? Derek --

Guest sbsdegb1 Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 All I know is that I can use my Nokia 6210 charger with the adapter to charge my phone. I also use my nokia car charger with the adapter to charge my phone in the car. I also have a usb charge and sync cable that I use at work. This came with a lighter adapter which I don't use because I use my nokia chharger. The adapter is a bit of a tight fit but once its on works like a dream. Don't know all the figures about voltage etc but I do remember somone saying they were compatible.

Guest Bazz Posted January 22, 2003 Report Posted January 22, 2003 Moral of the story? Always take out Orange Care... That just covers the phone though doesn't it? Doesn't the charger count as an accessory? Barry
Guest one.ear Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 That just covers the phone though doesn't it? Doesn't the charger count as an accessory? Covers phone/charger/battery among other things (not camera) Ben
Guest MScoines Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 Hi Tobers, Did you know you can use an XDA charger with the SPV and also one of the iPAQ's although only found out about the iPAQ option today and can't remember the model No. but it was told to me by a sales manager in one of the orange stores as I asked him about when official chargers for the SPV would be available and how much they would cost (to see if they would be cheaper then the XDA, he did not know the cost yet). So if you need a charger now, order and XDA (O2) charger, the voltage is the same as is the actual connector for the phone (with the module part that plugs in)
Guest Stealthy Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 All current compaq ipaqs 37 series upwards have the same charger. Dont know about the new hp Ipaqs 55 series
Guest JimBob Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 I dropped my USB cradle into a glass of orange juice!!! The orange juice was down by the side of my chair and the cradle was sat on the arm of the chair, i moved my arm without looking and knocked the cradle into the glass of orange......i panicked. I couldnt have knocked it into the glass if i tried but trust my bad look.........it fell right in!!!! Thank god i took my SPV out of the cradle a few minutes earlier........... anyway.......the reason i'm replying...... I think Orange might be lying about 'running out of supplies'. I phoned up on Monday 20th (The day after this post was made) and my cradle arrived on Wednesday 22nd which i thought was quite slow coz the guy in the Orange shop when i first bought the phone said they would send out replacement parts within 24 hours. I am on Orange care, maybe this has something to do with it but the fact remains that they do have supplies coz they sent me mine, the support staff are just lazy and are lying to you guys, i got passed to about 6 people before i got to one that had the authority to send me a replacement and the woman said i had to plug my phone into my cradle to do some checks on it and it was quite a long process!!! Now i have 2 cradles, the 'orange juice cradle' will charge my phone and it will activesync but i have to keep pulling out the usb cable and plugging it in again each time i take my phone off the cradle. I am a little bit reluctant to charge with it tho just incase it shorts my phone or summet! ;)

Soak the 'orange juice' one in warm, slightly soapy water, rinse, then place in an airing cupboard for a few days. It should be fine after that.
Guest JimBob Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 Thanks for the tip mate, i'll try it out tonight! ;)
