You should be fine. I am still using my AT&T sim and I have flashed the Cingular rom to my phone. You will have to manually configure the phone for AT&T SMS and data, since the defaults will be for Cingular after the flash.

thanks, so i take it that changing the rom will wipe out all of the installed programs

correct? if so is there a way to back it up or do i have to reinstall everything.

thanks

Yes, it will wipe out everything installed. You can use Sprite backup to backup everything before hand, but I would not recommend it when switching roms, since the registry and program locations may be differnent between vendors when you do a restore. I would just reinstall the apps, be less possible headaches.

Is there some advantage to the Cingular rom vs the ATT ROM?

I'm not planning on switching my accounts since the ATT account I have has more minutes for less money than I would get, but just wondering if there is something nifty about the Cingular ROM that makes it worth installing.
