Guest donka Posted August 24, 2005 Report Posted August 24, 2005 Hi, I'm coming from a Pocket PC and need a few questions answered as I'm new to the Smartphone OS and hardware: 1. Auto key lock? Is there a function in the OS to enable this or is it hardware dependant? I have my SE D750i set to auto key lock after a minute of inactivity and it is very handy. 2. I have tried sending contacts via bluetooth from my Pocket PC to the smartphone but it reports this is not possible on the Smartphone end? What gives - I can send these contacts to my Sony but not to the Smartphone running Windows Mobile? 3. System volume? Is there an easy way to manage this on the Smartphone? It is easy on the Pocket PC for example as the system volume turned down will keep everything quiet. I think it is managed through profiles on the Smartphone but when I have everything turned down - I occasionally get a loud warning beep if I hit action at the wrong time or say if I play a game and music starts playing and it is very loud. Any info on this? 4. Mapping of keys to functions? Is this possible as I would love to map a key to a task manager to save having to trawl the menus to change applications. Thanks in advance for any help on these questions.
Guest moonshot Posted August 24, 2005 Report Posted August 24, 2005 Auto key lock....start.settings,security,phone lock Mapping of keys to functions...start, accessories, speed dial. You can add a speed dial to any feature.

Unfortunately the phone lock function requires a password which is not what I want - just a key lock to save accidentally dialling a number in my pocket in case I forget to manually lock the keypad.
Guest Geeklord Posted August 24, 2005 Report Posted August 24, 2005 (edited) I think you can find that under settings, power management. Set the time value to your desired time before it takes effect and set the option to turn off phone. it doesn't really turn off the phone--you still get the calls and what not, but the buttons will not function until you press the unlock (usually left soft key then the * button) there's no need for a password. saves on battery too. Or if you want, you can press the call end button for 3 secs and that will lock the phone. unlocking is same as above, no passwords necessary. Edited August 24, 2005 by Geeklord
Guest donka Posted August 24, 2005 Report Posted August 24, 2005 Yip, I sussed out holding down the end call to manually put the keypay into lock however there is no option to turn off phone in power management, only - Main battery, backlight time out, display timeout and light sensor enable. I guess this must be hardware dependant.

Well as you're not after security, just enter a single digit password - it's only one extra keypress to unlock!
