Got an m500 yesterday...Get a new one tomorrow!

Just thought I'd share my experience so far with the m500.

I had used it for a total of about 5 hours before it decided to turn off and never turn back on again. Even during those precious 5 hours, there was a hard reset taking it back to factory settings plus frequent random incidences of it just turning itself off while I was using it.

I've found problems with the software too. When I set the voice dialing settings to use the recorded voice, I could no longer use the voice dialer properly. Activating the voice dialer by either the button on the side or through the menus would bring up the voice dialer options screen first, and only after closing that screen would it then bring up the voice dialer. If I set it to use any of the other voices (all of which sound like cheap text to voice converters) it was fine, it just seems to be the pre-recorded voice that causes the problem....This is particularly annoying as it's the only good option in my humble opinion.

Putting the problems aside for a moment, it's a good phone with some good features and I'm sure I'll be using an m500 for quite a while. After it became obvious that nothing was going to revive mine, I called up Orange straight away (about half an hour ago) and explained the situation. After 5 minutes of him running through the standard monkey tests they perform like plugging in the charger and cleaning the contacts, He agreed to send me out a new unit, battery and charger despite me telling him the problem was definitely with the unit and nothing else. I'm not going to complain of course...If they want to send me a new battery and charger for no reason then that's fine with me.

So in summary...I love the phone and am willing to put up with some problems as long as I get a working one in the end! lol

Ahh, unlucky I guess. It happens. Mine seems ok, little annoyed about battery life, but im not used to the power system on pocket pcs yet :)
