Guest Gazza Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 We really want to be able to read/view/edit documents. Word, Excel etc
Guest JeanChrisToulouse Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 We need a real TASK MANAGER for OUTLOOK TASKS: - Ability to read the full tasks - Add/Edit tasks - % etc.
Guest madu Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 personally I think word/excel and decent tasks app is a bit too much for now.. it will soon be availible commercially (i guess). but a NOTEPAD is an amazing thing to have!! i'd be happy enough with a notepad that can open even limited size (as in win) files for basic text editing.. Think 'editing xml's on your spv' - wouldn't that be great?! Well, keep up the good work!
Guest benny Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 The ability to add attachments to an email would be very useful... GPRS usage counter is a must-have, ideally "poundware" as opposed to the £13 offering available at the moment. Any basic games would be a bonus - something like a port of Rick Dangerous or Afterburner would be something to really show off the SPV (although Interstellar flames is a good substitute). Voice recognition / dialling would be nice, although I don't know if this is add-on software or an O/S patch. Voice-to-SMS would also be nice, but again I think this would use up too much RAM to be implemented An app similar to Omniremote on the Palm would be quite cool for sheer "gadget factor", but isn't really an absolute requirement. ICQ client? JAVA would be nice too, but I believe someone is already working on this. Oh...and a fully featured phone might be nice too ;) B
Guest Emad Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 ICQ can be done via the new JabberCE client or via the imode ICQ page. Voice recognition would be v v hard given the processing power of the phone. Now voice dialling wouldn't be too bad - you could do that with a piece of software, although it should really be in the os. I'd say notepad and an ebook reader myself.. Although a task manager would be very useful indeed.
Guest Gorskar Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 A free/ very very cheap GPRS counter Ebook reader would be nice A memory manager would also be useful... to show what apps are running, and close them down if u like.... at least to be able to close down internet explorer properly, without having to go back a million times.
Guest youngerpants Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 (younger repeats himself) TELNET!!!! failing that, java, so I can use a telnet applet
Guest AsherUK Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 Yeah, I agree, a notepad type app would be very useful
Guest benny Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 Telnet would be great...as would an SSH client (assuming GPRS supports this). Some form of a process / task manager would be good, too. Also, the ability to use the button on the headphones as a remote shutter release for the camera would be a nice idea - that way you've got a hope in hell of taking a picture without shaking the unit while its grabbing the image data from the camera pod. B
Guest DJHope Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 Good luck on telnet, wouldnt that have to be Privialged Trusted Signed, since itd be using GPRS?
Guest MBoden Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 Hmmm, Doom might be a problem, it needs 6MB RAM for Doom1.wad , i dont have that much available on my phone :-(
Guest Ed Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 Hmmm, Doom might be a problem, it needs 6MB RAM for Doom1.wad , i dont have that much available on my phone :-( They did it on the 7650. And if they can do quake I'm sure they can do doom.
Guest Ben Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 Loads have asked, but how about the Picture Caller ID? So someones picture will flash up when they call ! Ben.
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 And what was the answer before? There is such software in the works! Patience young Jedi... P
Guest Shire29 Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 1) Notepad or something similar 2) Proper tasks application (sync with Outlook tasks) 3) e-mail attachment thingy 3) Better media player 4) Word, Excell, Powerpoint viewer (editor too much to ask atm) 5) Quake/Doom any reasonable first person shooter Above is my opinion, in order of preference, although maybe Quake/Doom would be top except there is far too much dribling going on all ready atm ;) Cheers, Shire
Guest DJHope Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 Sort it out people easy! The doom wad dosnt use the entire wad for the whole of the game so you only need to load it into memeory in trickles besides that you can down the res of all the graphics and sound, the graphics can be downed to a sensible res for the fone (thats how they got it onto 7650)! DJ Hope
Guest MBoden Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 I think i got the wad file problem for doom fixed now
