Guest Tech Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 (edited) Hi there Hope your well :) From the good amount feedback I recieved and comments from the previous version of my application, I am happy to announce that I have just released Version 2.0 of the application. WMP Remote allows you to control Windows Media Player (WMP) from the power of your SPV (and my application ;)) to your PC using bluetooth/GPRS/USB cable! It runs on WM2003+ and was designed and also tested on C500. Version 2 has these features: - Better architecture - More controls! - You can now pause/play/resume files as well as increasing/decreasing volume (10% either way) - Keep up to date on the latest news whilst you are on the move! - Checks if up to date features of the Client version is supported by the server and disables features accordingly The Web update/Live update seems to be working fully now for the client version (and of course for the server version... it was working fine for the server version before!) Please, post feedback/bugs/comments here or to: [email protected] bugs: [email protected] Download the attached file Unzip to destination Copy WMPRemoteClient.exe To the smartphone device and run it from there (NOTE: it will NOT run on the PC) make sure the WMPRemoteServer.exe and 2 dll files are kept in the same directory whilst running WMPRemoteServer on the computer, otherwise the application will not run. www.spapps.co.uk www.spapps.co.uk/apps/WMPRemote/WMPRemote.aspxWMP_Remote_Control_v2.0d.zip Edited August 28, 2005 by Tech

Guest Tech Posted August 27, 2005 Report Posted August 27, 2005 (edited) Any screen shots available for this application? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> good Q... I did some screen shots and a video for the first version... i will do some screen shots later on :) there are some screenshots of the client application and server application in the documentation Edited August 27, 2005 by Tech
Guest Tech Posted August 27, 2005 Report Posted August 27, 2005 (edited) The Live/Web update works fine now for the client version! Excellent - app is fully operational! There will be an update to 2.1 for the Client version tonight, this simply disables the disabled function of updating the app, since at the time it did not work. to make it work in v2.0 (for this one time only) simply type in the "Message To Send to server" box on the main screen: #AppTesDisFea# exactly like that... then, click on Operations > Updates > Check update and it should then check for the update. Update to 2.1 for the Client version will be made in 3-4 hours time. I have also added more support for backward compatability for Server version < version 2. Also added a small feature to allow you to use a "hot key" to allow you to increase/decrease volume (simply set focus to the "volume" text box and press key 4 to decrease volume and key 6 to increase volume) Edited August 28, 2005 by Tech
Guest Tech Posted August 28, 2005 Report Posted August 28, 2005 let me give you a small sneak peak at what stuff will be included in version 3 to come: Version 3 of this application will detect, after a period of time, if your client is connected... when it finds out that it is not connected, it will close the connection and restart the server so it can accept the connection from the client again This is good if you are connecting over GPRS - for some reason whilst communicating with the server - the connection may go down or whatever, therefore the server will detect it and close the client connection, ready for the next incoming connection - good idea or what? :) The other thing is that it will detect if the client is version 3 and if not, it will allow you to use the client version (not version 3) for a minute or so - simply because earlier versions of the Client application would not support this "keepalive" connection, resulting in the server (version 3) disconnecting the client anyway. of course there will be more error control as with every patched/major version ;)
Guest poulidis Posted September 1, 2005 Report Posted September 1, 2005 I just ried it on my mpx220. It keeps crashing, sometimes when I request the playlist, some other times when I want to play a song. I don't know what's happening. When it crashes I can't do anything. And one other thing, where do the 2 dlls that are in the zip go?
Guest Tech Posted September 1, 2005 Report Posted September 1, 2005 that's probably why it crashes. You need to extract the entire zip file and keep the contents together when extracted - so make sure all the files in the zip file that are extracted are all in the same directory as the .exe files on the PC If the app from the client keeps "crashing" - I need to know any errors so I can resolve them. But it all seems to work fine from my end, as well as from other users. I dont know if it will work on the mpx220 as I only have a C500 and have tested it on that. It should work on the mpx220 (assuming it has WM2003SE) :) Let me know how it goes matey! ;) I just ried it on my mpx220.
