Using M2000 with MS Small Business Server

Not sure if this is the correct place to be posting this, but it seemed the most relevant. Mods, feel free to move this to a more relevant home.

As a Microsoft Partner, I get an action pack subscription, which is full of MS goodies. One of those in particular is Small Business Server 2003, which I've been experimenting with.

I'm planning to sell this to clients shortly, and have been trying to work out a solution that I could easily support. Part of the package I wish to supply / support includes the use of Smartphones and PDA phones such as the M2000.

Ideally what I'd like to do is have the M2000 sync by either of the following methods:

1) Cradle, connected in the normal way to a networked PC;

2) WiFi;

3) GPRS connection;

4) Via alternative connection, WiFi hotspot, user's home connection etc.

The WiFi equipment in question is an integrated WiFi access point and DSL router/modem, with built-in SPI firewall. As such, I have had no need during testing to install ISA server. The make of router isn't important, as many on the market have a similar feature set.

I'm able to sync to the server using a cradle connected to a PC, and the WiFi access point, but I'm having trouble with anything outside the network. As you are probably aware, SBS uses an internal domain, for example server.domain.local. As this is not visible outside the network, I have used the actual domain or IP address that points to the server, without success.

I suspect the reason why may be that the port that Activesync uses needs to be mapped to the server, however there is little or no information that references which ports need to be mapped. However, I could just be clutching at straws, I may need to consider using ISA server for this.

What I do understand is that Orange don't support AUTD, and will not pass SMS's to me if I try emailing my number at orange.net, so automatic syncing is not possible. User initiated syncing is not a problem.

At the MoDaCo summer event, I mentioned the above to the MS rep, and he suggested there is a project guide available that references the very situation that I have described. However, I am unable to locate this, despite spending a lot of time on both the MS partner site and various SBS sites.

Is there anyone here that has set up a system using SBS, and succesfully syncing over the air? I would be interested in knowing how you've done it. Alternatively, does anybody know of this project guide?

Many thanks in advance for your help.
