Hello to all,

I have just discovered this oasis of information. Congratulations on a fantastic forum.

I have been reading & trying to learn stuff but I have done alot of head scrtatching over the last 24 hours.

I have had a C500 for a year now & i have been pleased with it in genral. The thing is I haven't really got the most out of it, instead, using it like it "normal phone". I didn't even know you could change the home screen thingy until last night, imagine my surprise etc etc.........

This is very interesting I'm sure(not) but I am coming to my point. I use my phone alot & have a beffy call plan so I can get upgrades easily & have reserved a M500 after a 5 minute demo in the Orange shop. I decided to go for it because I felt the C550 doesn't feel as good as the 500 & the top buttons are a bit too fiddley & the other alternatives were Nokia & Sony Erikson.

Bearing in mind, that i know NOTHING about adding apps & making the most of my new little marvel. I was wondering if I have potentialy bitten off more than i can chew by getting the M500. I like the idea of personalising the thing but I don't have a great deal of time or knolledge with regards to this & here is the the real banana skin.......... I use a Mac !!!!!!!!

I backed up my C500 on my parents computer every couple of months, I can hear the gasps & laughs from here.

I want to know if the newest newbie can get his head around the M500 & if there was some way of getting it to sync to a Mac or is that gonna be like finding a winning lottery ticket.

If needs be, I will use it as a phone & play with the hand writing recognition & voice dialing & impress my friends & family but I feel it would be an oppotunity missed, any thouhts would be welcome

Kindest regards

The M500 is pretty cool, but it sounds like you don't really need all the functions so i'd suggest sticking with your C500 til you find a device that meets your real needs.

As a pure phone the M500 wouldn't be my first choice.

Have you looked at the SE K750i?

Thanks Musicvan, I will be investing in that software, what a god send.

Chucky Egg: I feel that i am in between 2 stalls, I did check out the SE 750i, a friend has one, after the C500 it all seems a bit childish. Same with the Nokia 6680, thats why i was considering the M500 as I dont like the C550. I do use the calender alot & i like the way SPVs has that sence of business about it that the other phones don't seem to have. I am a business user, so maybe the M 500 has tools that i can use everyday outside of my office. As long as i dont have to sit there all day trying to turn the darn thing on.

Does the M 500 have a contacts wizard like the C 500 ?

Are there major differences in the overall opperation of the thing- Do people who own a C 500 easily adjust to a M 500 ?

thanx in advance

Well Gee Man

i just upgraded from the c500 to the M500, as yet i havent used the Word or excell function and to be honest i dont think i will.

the C500 caledar is good, i have ruffly about 25 appointments a week and they all worked well with the c500, in the m500 you just have more space.

i would call my self a techie, i have lots of gadgets, including Tomtom on the C500 (which is wicked)

i have had the m500 for around a week and i am still getting used to it.

if i were you i would stick the the c500.

on a plus note watching videos on the m500 is wicked .. i have dvd to smartphone (c500) and they make good films which are good on the m500, also MS moviemaker is quiet good for other stuff.

You seem disappointed/not keen budgeuk, what's putting you off?

I'm looking at upgrading to the M500 but what's making me hesitate is getting used to a phone without a keypad for one-handed appointment creating, contact lookup, etc.

Are you having any problems for the same reason? Or others?

Cheers
