Connecting C500 to Computer

I cannot get the computer to recognze when the C500 is connected. I am using a sensi cable that I got from ebay that purports to be compatible (it certainly fits) with the C500. I know I can by an official cradle from this website but am loathe to throw good money after bad if the phone is a dud!

I have done a hard reset and have Active sync 3.8 installed. The trouble is that the computer just does not see the phone when I connect it. I have all the other software I need including the updated rom and the Application and Sim unlock software.

Jut needs some ideas on why the computer can not see it.

Any suggestions? I apprecite your help.

can i ask why you are using a serial cable? although it should work, its much easier to use the standard usb cable

I bought the phone off ebay and it did not come with the cradle. If you have any ideas then beas technical as you like - I am an SPV devotee and have been through the growing pains of the previouos two versions.

Also - some extra info - the phone came with a Virgin Sim (which I don't want to use) but says T-Mobile on the display. When I put my Orange sim in it just say no network rather than Sim blocked.

I would buy a MINI usb cable from maplin.co.uk this will work alot faster than serial, With regards the network issue it might need completely unlocking for a few pounds.
