Guest mooman Posted August 28, 2005 Report Posted August 28, 2005 Hi, I just got my first smartphone, a Motorola MPX220. I would like to customize it to my liking before I start to use it (for real). I have rom version 1.36 (1.360.0.0) installed on it. The rom has these languages: US English, UK English, Danish, Swedish, Deutch, Norwegian, Russian and Finnish. Now Danish, Swedish, Norwegian and UK English are the important languages, because these are the ones that I mainly use. At the same time I saw that there is a new rom versions out (1.47), and I would like to try it. Now being new to this things I have some questions. 1. Do I gain anything from upgrading from rom version 1.36 to 1.47? Incase I do, what are the gains (benefits) and/or the bad of upgrading? 2. Is it possible to backup my current rom so that I can revert to 1.36 incase I dont like the new rom or have to send the phone in on warranty issues? 3. Is it possible to install languages on the phone, so that if I upgrade the rom with 1.47 rom, I would still be able to use (installed) UK English, Swedish, Danish and Norwegian? 4. Can I use UK English as the system language, but use another language as the iTAP language? Incase its possible, how do I do it on rom version 1.36 (or on rom version 1.47 it its possible to install languages on it)? Well thats all I can remeber for now. I am really excited about this new phone and cant wait to start using it. Thanks for all you help :)
Guest mooman Posted August 29, 2005 Report Posted August 29, 2005 I would really like some answers here, I really like my MPx220 and I am afraid that I may destroy it, which is something I really dont. But at the same time I would like to use iTAP in a different language when writting messages, then the menu language. Please help me with the stuff I wrote about in my first post, I would really appreciate it :)
Guest andersburn Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 You can't destroy your mpx220... if something bad happens you can always reset the phone by making a Hard reset iTAP is some s***... if you use danish on your itap dont opdate it, just make sure that your language is included in the new ROM don't know if you can use a differencent language in itap
Guest mooman Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Thanks for the answer. So I am stuck changing between menu language (and reboot) everytime I want to change the iTAP language when writing SMS?, Now thats bad, really bad desing by Motorola or Microsoft (dont know which one to blame). And there isnt any solution to this? How do people like me surive with smartphones then, or are all people like me buying Symbian or Linux phones. Anyway I am very satisfied with everything about the phone except the thing mentioned in this thread. Thanks again for the help :-)
