Guest tz8 Posted August 29, 2005 Report Posted August 29, 2005 ola all, well, you've read the topic... you clicked the post... do you know of any phones on the market that have all mentioned gizmos? and i don't want to run around with an ipaq sized thing on my ear, the more it'd be like the Neonode n1m the better. In fact, if neonode would put 3G/UMTS in their phone i'd already have it... any suggestions on where i should/could seek/find my new phone? tz8
Guest Pondrew Posted August 29, 2005 Report Posted August 29, 2005 Sorry lad, the first anticipated 3G Pocket PC Phone Ed. device matching your spec will be the HTC Universal (Orange SPV M5000; I-Mate Jasjar) and it's bigger then an Ipaq (I think...?). If you dropped the 3G requirement people would be able to suggest existing devices... By the way, you know the Neonode n1m isn't Pocket PC Phone Ed.? It builds on Windows CE itself.

I just wonder why they don't bring this to market after years and years of 3G talks and how connected you could be and all this... getting bigger attachments fast in your mail is so important to me for some of the people i'm trying to give a better mobile service... Noone really needs a Windows Smartphone if we're just talking mails... because then they don't have the Crackberry advantage of showing off at the airport how important you think you are... Running around with an iPaq just gives you 'oh, he brought his little Solitaire machine to the airport' looks ;> By the way, you know the Neonode n1m isn't Pocket PC Phone Ed.? Guest Pondrew Posted August 29, 2005 Report Posted August 29, 2005 That's the downside of the Neonode effort. Software code has to be adjusted to work on it... therefore you've got next to no software library as neither the Smartphone nor Pocket PC software works by default.
Guest tz8 Posted August 29, 2005 Report Posted August 29, 2005 well then, looks like the mda pro (as the htc universal is called by t-mobile Germany) together with my fellow bluetooth headset is my weapon of choice then... still very unsatisfying. I'd rather take something as shiny as the neonode... :?:
Guest Pondrew Posted August 29, 2005 Report Posted August 29, 2005 Wouldn't mind the MDA IV (or Pro as they now seem to be calling it) myself although will all depend on cost (it ain't going to be cheap!)
Guest smeg36 Posted August 29, 2005 Report Posted August 29, 2005 I assume you are in the real world (not USA) where CDMA has been fazed out already. But the Samsung i730 (CDMA PPC Phone) meets all your requirements. It is a Verizon phone, and uses their EVDO high speed data. Has BT, a slide down keyboard, and is the size of a Treo. I have done speed tests with the EVDO, and got results up to 968kbps! I guess I am just making you jealous though as few places but the USA and Korea (I think nowhere else) can get the phone and actually have service on it.
Guest Pondrew Posted August 29, 2005 Report Posted August 29, 2005 Correct! unfortunately the Samsung i730 isn't available over here. I'm actually happy enough with my MDA III for the moment...
Guest Warl0rd Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 Hi my CDMA HTC Phone is TG3 and has Bluetooth http://www.telecom.co.nz/content/0,3900,20...-201930,00.html I recently was in Sydney, worked fien there roaming on Teltras service
Guest dave106 Posted August 31, 2005 Report Posted August 31, 2005 The JASJAR, Imates version of HTC Universal is now ready to order at expansys http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=119353
Guest Pondrew Posted August 31, 2005 Report Posted August 31, 2005 @Warl0rd, CDMA isn't going to do me any good I'm afraid :) The JASJAR, Imates version of HTC Universal is now ready to order at expansys http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=119353 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Five days availability?! Wonder if they'll actually get any stock in five days. Doubt it somehow. Have entered my email for stock notification all the same. Oh. And I won't be shelling out over £600 for it anytime soon.
Guest tz8 Posted August 31, 2005 Report Posted August 31, 2005 think i can be happy... my contract is ready for a new phone right now at the beginning of september, and t-mobile is shipping the mda pro right now. I'm just waiting for the blackberry software to be available on it, cause my new company wants me to run around with one of these crackberry handhelds and i'm till now succesfully trying not to run around with one of these blue ... things...

Blackberry Instant Email has been available on that for a while now...
