Managing memory in M500

Dear Diedre,

I'm worrying about the size of my RAM, and whether anyone who sees it will laugh at me.

My thinking is that, too keep the phone running "fast", I need as much Program memory as possible, so once I've got all the basics installed I limit Storage to another 5Mb (for PIE cache and other Windows junk mainly)

My phone reports 57.41Mb total memory, of which:

Storage allocated: 23.07

Storage in use: 17.63

Storage Free: 5.44

Program allocated 34.34

Program In use: 13.80

Program Free: 20.54

I'm not sure whether I need to worry about memory allocations on my M500, or whether the phone will do it for me.

I'm getting obsessive about it so any views appreciated.

Your certainly no the only one mate. I'm exactly the same. Ive also tried to do the extended Bigrom but keep running into trouble when it comes to read my original rom from the storage card. So i just did the reset before all the orange crap loads.

Then I used cabinstall to place the programes on my card rather than my phone.

I must admit that the memory is really poor on these things.

My favourite game at the moment is PDAMills Jokers Quest wich need 9MB of free ram to play so I'm constantly reseting my memory and closing all runnning apps before I play it.

And that really pi$$es me off :)

For the big storage hack, the way i got it to work is by changing the hex values in the rom.. bit of trail and error but i got it working.. not sure why we cant have 512 or 1gb mem, coz flash storage are so smalll now adays i am sure they can implement it in..

oh well we can all dream..
