Guest the_cheat Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 Hey all, new to this forum since i just bought a c500 from UK (I'm in Australia). Was wondering are there any programs out there that can get rid of the Orange branded software on the c500 or would i be better flashing to say a imate sp3 rom What are your thoughts? I don't care to much for Orange branding (sorry to people that love Orange). Since i am with Telstra i want the phone to be as close to standard as possible. Thanks
Guest Disco Stu Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 Welcome to the forum :) I have not heard of any software that will remove the Orange software. You can't legally get an iMate ROM without an iMate IMEI although I believe QTek ROMs are freely available form their website.
Guest the_cheat Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 Thanks for the help. I'll read the guide on installing the QTek ROMs. Do they provide a standard version of windows 2003 se? Or are there QTek specific programs on that too?
Guest Disco Stu Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 I've no experience of QTek ROMs so wouldn't be able to comment. My gut feeling though is that the ROM would be fairly 'clean' as they are a reseller rather than an operator with services to sell. All I know is that they are fairly popular here !
Guest united Posted August 31, 2005 Report Posted August 31, 2005 hi ive just upgraded my c500 to the qtek rom runs well if not better than the orange rom. no branding on the screen or menu pages, slight branding on startup and shut down but better than orange. the only thing to get used to is that it has cleartype enabled which makes all the letters look chunkier but you soon get used to it. i ts a shame that no one can get a completely plain rom from HTC surely they must do them.
Guest the_cheat Posted August 31, 2005 Report Posted August 31, 2005 Yeah i upgraded mine to the new Qtek ROM as well. I think it is way better then the Orange ROM. I don't know if it is me, but it seems to respond faster. The only problem i have found so far is that the sound when you move around the menus sometimes works sometimes doesn't. No big deal. The other good news is that i got GPRS to work on the Telstra network with it. Super awesome.
