Hi

Ive been directed here by Gears from coolsmartphone.com, he thinks that you clever folk may be able to assist me.

I started an update on my E200 and (stupidly) knocked the phone off the cradle half way through. I cant get any thing to work on it now all I get is the colours screen. I tried to hard reset but every time I selct thr ruu recovery bit thie screen fades out and I end up back at the "press any button for bootlaoder" screen.

Has anyone got an idea how I can restore the phone???

thanks

You should be able to rerun the update (making sure your firewall is off and the cradle is plugged directly into the pc's usb port) from the tri colour screen.

First hold the camera button while powering on in order to get to the tri-colour screen (often referred to as the canary screen after the original HTC Smartphone model). Sounds like you are pressing the action key when prompted in order to hardreset. Don't!

Once on the tri-colour screen put the E200 back on the cradle. Activesync won't recognise it but that doesn't matter. Rerun the update and it should complete succesfully.

Let us know how you get on and welcome to MoDaCo! 8)

EDIT: Just noticed you've been a member almost as long as I have! So I guess that's a BELATED welcome!

Hi

thanks for that, unfortunately that didnt work I got an error message.

So I downloaded the update again to retry. still no joy

I did notice however that theere is no "current ROM version" shown when the program checks my phone for information, I think I must have wiped the memory or flash?? or something. Is there a way 'of restoring it or loading an old ROM version into it?

What error message are you getting?

The initial aborted update obviously completed wiping the old rom but didn't succeed in flashing the new one. This shouldn't be a problem.

Unfortunately the only other thing I can think of to suggest would be to send it off to HTC for repair/reflashing.
