O2 GPRS port 8080

Im trying to setup my imate jam /c500 with my o2 payg sim card, ive managed to get it working with full net access but is it possible with these settings (changing the port to 8080 and through a work/proxy connection) to have full net access and be able to retrieve ya emails ,i cant seem to get it workin with retrieving emails at all ive changed the settings so my email fetch the mail through the work connection but it always pops up with errors ,to check settings .etc.

it comes up with:

'Messages cannot be downloaded to your mobile device.Make sure you are connected and that your e-mail account settings are correct,then try to download messages again'

Is it possible with the port 8080 to retrieve emails or is it just for net access ,i know MSN wont work but not sure about email.Any ideas would be great

What settings did you use to access the internet with O2 PAYG?
