Just found this on the Expansys, Dont know how reliable the date is but hey its somting interesting!!!!

I cant wait for this phone to come out.

If you search "qtek 9100" it comes up with a list of it on various O2 and Vodafone tariffs!!!!

The strange thing is i cant seem to find them just going through the menu system.

You find it under the connected mobiles. I saw it this morning. Not sure about the IMAP chip though. Still thinking M500....

What do you mean by IMAP what does that mean and what does it do??

The IMAP chip is a texas instuments processor - the TI OMAP 850. Apparently it is very low power bit only runs at 200Mhz compared with the jam which runs on an intel chip running at over 400+Mhz. I know that the Mhz rating can sometimes be meaningless but there is a lot of argument (from people who know more than me) that the OMAP chip may suck.

As you say, mhz isn't always important. AMDs chips tend to run at lower frequencies but outperform higher mhz Intels (Mupwangle: sure you know this but for everyone else). Example is my AMD Athlon XP 2500+ which although as the name indicates performs like a 2.5ghz Intel only runs at 1.8ghz.

Cors time will tell...

This phone really looks fantastic. I've seen the video and the lower MHz processor doesn't seem to be an issue at all. Is there anything that the original JAM does better? From the way I'm seeing things this really is better in every way (apart from perhaps looks!).

Can't wait to get this in my hands - looks like it's free on many O2 and Voda contracts!

From what I can gather, the OMAP choice was a trade-off between power consumption and speed. They need low power consumption to allow for wireless integration without increasing the size of the unit. When they built the Universal, size wasn't really an issue so they could use a higher powered battery. I would've thought that the fact it should be WM5 would make a lot of this argument pointless (skype, etc) as it needs a 400MHz+ processor on WM2003 but does anyone actually know if this is a limitation of the software or just the current implementation. The WM5 version might need a lot less.

not that it really matters. Geeky folks will still buy it. ;-)

I read over at MSMobiles that Skype had been tested on the Wizard already and that voice data worked just fine. The OMAP CPU's performance was not a cause for concern.

Also - Bluetooth 2.0! Ok, so it's not anything that many of us will be able to benefit from right away, but it's yet another feature.

Taken from Smartphone Thoughts, this link confirms that the Wizard supports WiFi 802.11g as well. It also has an integrated flash from the shot of the spec list (which can clearly be seen on one of the pictures). I know there had been talk about those two features too.

This is pretty much turning into the ultimate phone for me I think.

Can't remember where I first saw this, but it talks about the OMAP vs Intel CPU's.

Do a search for OMAP on the page then read the paragraph about the tests done. Presuming it still stand for today's OMAP CPU's then I'm quite happy about the choice of CPU for the Wizard.
