Guest fraser Posted August 31, 2005 Report Posted August 31, 2005 Hey all, A trick I usual do on a desktop PC is to not have a desktop background image. When you do, the PC has to store the uncompressed bitmap image in memory and as this is of the same resolution as the display e.g. 1600x1200x32 you can lose about 6 meg of ram because of it. It speeds things up greatly to not have it (screen redraws are quicker), and it's useful for running VNC server as well. If you ever find yourself watching the desktop redraw itself line-by-line, turn this off now!! Is it possible to do the same on the phone? That is, don't have a background and just a plain single colour? My homescreen has PocketBreeze and Journal Bar on it, so any background image is largely covered by text and icons anyway. Failing that, has anyone got any simple background images, something with maybe a subtle gradient or pattern? Nice but basic.
Guest bretto Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 Or this wm2005 rip off :o wm2005_ish.zip
Guest fraser Posted October 1, 2005 Report Posted October 1, 2005 Cheers guys, like them. Bretto's second one looks the best on my home screen. The white area in the top right has no text 'cos of how I have them laid out and it kinda looks "right". Thanks! (have they fixed the email notification on the site yet? Keep on missing replies... :o )
