I just got an email supposedly from Orange:

Dear Orange Triallist

We have some new trials of Orange products and services coming up and we require your support.  We will need you to test the product or service for at least 1 month during which time you will be asked for regular feedback.

If you would like to be considered as a triallist you will need to complete the following questionnaire.

****LINK REMOVED****

Please double click on the link above or copy and paste it into your web browser to access the online trial questionnaire.

Many thanks

Orange Trials Team

The link looked genuine, so I followed it. It took me to a form asking for my name, then number and probably some other stuff, but I didn't take it any further.

Is this how it normally works?

The URL looks right... But i think by pasting the email here you just shot yourself in the foot.

Its a confidental email (it says so ;)) meant just for you, and any other receiptants, and im pretty sure the fact you've given out the email to everyone on MoDaCo (and im sure lots of people will appriciate it :() means orange wont be too happy with you :D

If i were you, i'd delete the url to the site; just in case :)

Just point out the site is on the orange trails website (http://www.trials.orange.co.uk)

Oh ffs! How stupid do I feel now! I never read the small print at the bottom of emails!

I did wonder if the link took me anywhere specific to my account, ie that could be identified as from me, but it didn't seem to. It was simply a questionnaire to be considered - so I thought it safe.

It still required the filling in of a form, with name, number, etc, so I assumed it was a mass produced, generic form.

Anyway, removed, just in case.

Thanks

I just didn't want to blindly assume it was genuine and give a whole load of personal information to an unknown source. Orange should supply more details in their emails, or simply ask me to log into my account. Especially in todays climate, 'phishing' and all that...

I did wonder that, but the link had nothing in it to indicate it was specific to my account details.

Oh, im know it doesnt, but im pretty sure orange dont want a few hundred thousend people signing up to that trial, or they'd make the url public themselves :)
