Hi people,

Just wondering if any of you can help me, i have just got myself a mini sd 256MB card for my SPV C500. I have added the program to the mini sd card and placed it into the phone.

I have read that the autorun.exe should automatically detect the program on the card when i switch the phone off and then on again. When i switch it on the program doesnt start up.

Does anyone know why? Is there some settings i need to change to tell the phone to load up the program on the mini sd card?

Any advice would be most appreciated

Thanks

Simon

Welcome to the site :)

What application are you trying to run on startup?

Normally you will need to have a shortcut to the application in Storage\Windows\StartUp for the application to start up.

I think he refers to :

Put autorun.exe in a directory called 2577 off the root of the Storage Card. Put a cab file in that same directory. When you insert the storage card the CAB file is automatically installed.

but I have some questions about that too..

How do u get multiple files to install??

I want to get 4 files (3 .exe and one .cab) to isntall once I put in the sd card.

where do u get the .ini file or something to do that?

pre editing the registry on the phone is not an option if u want true autoinstall.

and is there only 1 autorun.exe out? or can u write your own or use a ini file??

and where to find it?

is there a guide?

with files and all?

The program is tomtom mobile. I was required to transfer the files to my new 256mb mini sd card (KINGMAX) and it says that once you stick the card into the phone then it will automatically start up, but nothing does. I have read about this autorun.exe, but it doesnt seem to be working. Is it becasue you need to use the original card provided with tomtom? OR is it something to do with my phone?

I then read about compatiablitly issues with the c500, is this one of the reasons why tomtom doesnt work with it?

Thanks

All you need to do is copy the exact information on the MMC card that TomTom supplied straight onto the miniSD card.

If you have version 4 ie the original TomTom Mobile you will need to run the Traffic update which can be found on the TomTom site.

The other thing you can do is using the phones file manager go to the autorun exe in the 2577 folder and then run it. This should kick start the file to then make a shortcut appear in your Start Menu

thanks for the reply awarner,

It must be something to do with the phone as i have copied it over exactly as it is to my 256Mb card. I also cannot locate this 2577 folder, i go inot the file manager and i get the follwoing:

Profiles

Storage

Storage Card

Temp

Windows

I go into the sub folder of the Storage card and only see folders i copied over from the tomtom card. I cant seem to locate this 2577 folder. Could you please help???

The 2577 folder should have been on the original card, as it? you must copy the folders into the same place on your new card, ie the root directory and not a folder.

Using the Filemanager on my SPV C550 I have located the AutoRun.exe file in the 2577 folder but when I highlight that and try to run it using (Joystick/Action) button nothing happens. I then try to use the Run command and what I get is another screen asking for a command. On that screen is written:

'Command Paremeters Field at top (need to put a command in that), Note: The called application entered in Command edit field, needs to support argument! Otherwise , it will have no effect'.

Question is what do I enter in correct syntax in that box to force a manual Run of AutoRun.exe?

Thanks.

An auto run runs automatically AFAIK you can't run it manually - why do you want to?
