Guest rfsteel Posted September 1, 2005 Report Posted September 1, 2005 (edited) I'm shortly going to New Jersey for 9 months with work. I would like to use my SPV C500 whilst out there mainly for TomTom Mobile 5. I will be getting a company phone, and was wondering if anyone knew of a US network that supply SIM cards that would be compatible with my hand set. Edited September 1, 2005 by rfsteel
Guest bradmatejo Posted September 1, 2005 Report Posted September 1, 2005 Should be able to use your c500 on Cingular and TMobile.
Guest Confucious Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 Should be able to use your c500 on Cingular and TMobile. They are both GSM providers but I was under the impression that one or both of them transmitted on 850Mhz - or is that only in certain areas of the US?
Guest bradmatejo Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 Erm, I can't speak with certainty about that. Cingular sells the c500 as the Audiovox SMT5600 so I know you can use it with Cingular. Matter of fact, a friend of mine used an Orange c500 he got off ebay on Cingular for a while. I don't know for sure about TMobile though.
Guest Confucious Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 The SMT5600 is the same basic phone but is TriiBand 850/1800/1900 wheras the C500 is triband 900/1800/1900 so just because you can use an SMT5600 does not mean you can use a C500.
