Guest Alex_le_brit Posted September 1, 2005 Report Posted September 1, 2005 I was looing at Skpe phones the other day on their site, and I notice that they're designed to plug into a USB port, and have the usual range of phone keys on them. This got me thinking. a lot of us have a bluetooth dongle plugged into a USB port, and we've got a bluetooth enabled phone complete with the number keys on it. Why can't we have an programme running on our phones which emulates the Skype handset? It would mean we wouldn't need to have full skype running on our phones, just turn on your PC wherever it is in your house, and start the emulator on the phone. Want to make a call? Just dial it, perhaps there could even be integration with your contacts? Want to receive calls, just roam round your bluetooth coverage zone, and when you get skyped your smartphone rings. Until there's wifi built into smartphones I can't see the point in having skype running (and it uses too much processor power) but I can see the point in having an emulator to allow you to use it as a cordless handset for Skype.
Guest ccsnet Posted September 1, 2005 Report Posted September 1, 2005 Simular to what I asked here.... http://www.modaco.com/index.php?act=ST&f=3&t=227501 I guess the answer to what you where asking above is that there is a Skype PPC client... ie the new IMate phones include it. Terran
