Sony games come on their proprietary UMD format, this is like a mini CD in a plastic case that goes in a slot in the back. The PSP also takes Memory Stick Pro Duo cards for saving game data, storing pictures, movies, etc. You can plug your PSP into a computer via a USB cable or you can connect to your wireless home network using the built in 802.11b wireless adapter. Load times on many games tend to be slow, but I'm sure this will improve once the software developers get used to this hardware. The LCD screen for a portable system is superb and it is so enjoyable to look at that I don't really play console or computer games that much anymore, it's very nice to have the portability of the PSP.
